I was born atop a mountain of ash and ice… When I was ready to leave home, I sliced through the rocks and the dirt. I carved a path through woods and desert, creating the world around me, like a painter with his brush. I whittled channels. I sculpted plateaus…Once, I could run faster than a mustang’s hooves, faster than an eagle’s wings, faster than the wind rippling my surface. Once, I was a running river.
Now all I can do is crawl.
